Status LED
Spectranext features an onboard color LED that provides visual feedback about the device's current state and operational status. Understanding what each color means can help you diagnose issues and monitor the device's activity.
LED Color Meanings
The status LED uses different colors and patterns to indicate various states:
| Color | Meaning |
|---|---|
| GREEN | Device is operational and connected. If it blinks, the device is sending or receiving data. |
| Breathing GREEN | Over-the-Air (OTA) update is ready to be installed. Please reboot your Spectrum to install the update. |
| RED | Device is disconnected from Wi-Fi. Press the Magic button to configure Wi-Fi settings. |
| RED/YELLOW/GREEN/BLUE animation | Device is booting up. Wait for the boot sequence to complete. |
| BLACK (no light) | Device is turned off or does not receive power. Check power connections. |
| BLUE | Device is in "Magic button mode" or TAPE is being loaded. |
| Flashing YELLOW | Device is performing an upgrade. Do not power off or it might brick the device. |
Troubleshooting
If you encounter unexpected LED behavior:
- Solid RED: Press the Magic button to enter WiFi configuration mode
- No light: Verify power connections and that the device is receiving power
- Stuck on boot animation: The device may be experiencing boot issues - try power cycling or perform manual update.
- Flashing YELLOW: Wait for the upgrade to complete - this can take several minutes

- Always wait for flashing yellow to stop before powering off the device during upgrades
